The "Hope House" The Hope House is
a church-owned property, formerly “the Manse,” that is used to
provide transitional housing for
those in need. It's
operation is administered by FAITH
Homes of Donegal. Our congregation participates in the building's
upkeep and offers help whenever possible. The house is typically occupied rent-free
for only a couple of months while the residents stabilize their lives. We provide a mentor to work with the
family, as needed. HOPE HOUSE SEPTEMBER 2010 UPDATE: The family that was living in the Hope
House has met all their goals and was able to move into their own apartment.
We expect another family to come to the house in mid-September. Our group is no longer Homes of Hope, but
FAITH Homes of Donegal. We can always use more volunteers for
mentoring, cleaning, helping to prepare a budget, and attending and reporting
monthly meetings. Our current committee is Barb Eckert, Judy Kay Bard,
Suzanne Burger, Pat Garrigan, Melody
Nissley. Elizabeth Conway is a mentor in
training and will shadow Suzanne with this new family. Ken Ginder is our "go to" man for the family to
call if something breaks in the house. If you could help Ken with your
fix-it expertise, give him your name and phone number so he could call you if
needed. This would not only help Ken, but would save our group from
some big repair bills on our very limited budget. If you have furniture or any household
items to donate to the furniture bank, please call Lorraine Lutz at 653-2478
(home) or 653-1665 (work) to make arrangements for pick-up and delivery
to the building. Thanks for your continuous prayers for
this important mission in our own community.
